Random Blurb by ~rin-11:iconrin-11:

I slipped up to the door and quietly ripped it from its hinges. All of them were sound asleep. I couldn’t help but chuckle hideously to myself. Imagine my luck!
I looked around with abhorrence at the strangers lying before me. My mouth twisted into a bitter smile, I crept up to the closest one and ripped him from underneath his sheets. His eyes flew open in horrified shock as he flew through the air. He had no time to cry out before he collided with a wall and fell into a shapeless heap on the floor. The others, hearing his broken body crash to the ground, leapt up and searched for the source of the sound.
This is when the fun began. They heard my sinister cackle fill the hall and they trembled in their very skin. In the dark they could not see me, but they could sense my feelings of revulsion rolling off of me like water over rocks. They were frozen in their places but that quickly changed as the next one I grabbed screamed bloody murder. They all started scrambling for their useless weapons and tripped over their sheets, themselves, and each other. I ripped out the throat of the man I was holding and threw him at the others. They all went off in different directions, clambering about like scatter-brained chicks.
One by one I picked them off and ripped the strangers apart limb by limb while they shrieked and I howled with hysterical laughter. Now all that was left was the big one, the one that was absolutely mindless. I silenced myself and he grew anxious.
“What foul revenant are you?” he asked with apparent fear in his voice and I heard him curse at himself for that. He stared into the darkness in vain, his eyes wild and his pupils dilated. When there was no answer, he said, “What do you want with me?”
I grinned and started to move around him. He heard my steps and tensed, looking toward the sound. His eyes became tiny slits and he realized I meant to kill him slowly.
“You wretch!” he hissed with vehemence in his voice, “Curse you!”
I laughed darkly again. He spun around in surprise and tripped on an arm. He scrambled to find his feet, which made him slip even more on the blood surrounding him. I watched in silent amusement as he finally stood, shaking with rage and fear from head to foot, covered in the thick, slimy blood of his friends. He had a sword in his hands and was gripping to so tightly that his hands were white.
Just then a fire roared to life beneath a table in the corner. I whipped my face in the direction of the scrimpy light. Damn! I had left one alive on accident. The both of them cried out as they saw me. The one under the table tried to scuttle away. That was a mistake on his part. In one leap I was right on top of him. He seemed to recognize his doom and decided to capitulate himself to it. I ripped him completely in half across his stomach. His face was not halcyon, but aghast with horror.
The other screamed at me. I looked at him; his eyes were effulgent with detestation aimed at me. I bared my teeth and slunk toward him. He raised his sword, crouched into a fighting position.
“Vile humans,” I said aloud. “You are all the same. You care for nothing but yourselves. You are all useless pieces of shit. I hate all of you. I will obliterate you. You will die. I promise you that. Doom is coming quickly for every single one of you.”
“You can talk!” he gasped.
“Yes,” I replied. “What of it?”
He stared dumfounded at me, his mouth hanging wide open and his eyes wider than is mouth. I sprang at him and he tripped on the same stupid arm as he did before. Disgusted, I grabbed his face and ripped it clean off of his head. An eyeball popped out of its socket and squirted hot blood on my face. He started screaming louder than the first one I killed. I screamed back at him and tore his head clean off his shoulders which abruptly stopped the sharp, keening noise coming from is throat.
I was back to my manic giggling. I dropped his body and looked behind me. Most of the place was already up in flames that were bright red, orange, and yellow. I ran out barely managing to keep my balance. Another quick glance back and I saw the fervent flames licking at every part of the building.
When the screaming started I was back at the lake with the fire snakes. I looked onto the limpid water softly glowing green and saw the face of a blood-stained monster staring back at me. At once I stopped laughing, my face dropped into a bit of a saddened frown. The creature in the reflection of the lake water continued to smile at me, the maddened eyes seeming to say Do you see? That is what you are. I growled at him and turned back toward the mead hall...

Author's Comments

This was an assignment in high school. We had to rewrite or elaborate on the ending of the book Grendel. I want to write more on it but it's kinda difficult to come up with more ideas. This was written a long time ago.
